Florence Anne Barratt trained to become a student nurse at St. James's Hospital from 1959 to 1962, qualifying in 1962 and in 1963 trained to become a midwife at the same hospital, qualifying that same year.
Album of black and white photographs donated by Florence Anne Barratt to Thackray Museum of Medicine as part of the museum's century of nursing exhibition. Includes photographs of Barratt attending prize giving ceremonies, bed making and working during Christmas, portrait photographs of Barratt and Mary Freeborn (Barratt's aunt), Barratt with colleagues at Midwifery School. The collection also includes photocopies of Barratt's uniform permit issued by the General Nursing Council in March 1962, certificate issued to Barratt from St. James's Hospital Training School for Nurses upon completing a course of instruction as a student nurse in 1962, General Nursing Council certificate qualifying Barratt as a registered nurse in March 1962, certificate from St. James's Hospital confirming that Barratt had been engaged as a pupil midwife for six months in 1963, photocopies of programmes for prize giving ceremonies at St. James's Hospital for student nurses and midwives, and a photocopy of newspaper articles from the Yorkshire Evening News showing prize giving ceremonies attended by Barratt.
