Emily Parker studied to become a nurse at St. James's Hospital and qualified as a nurse in 1946. Parker was admitted a Member of the Royal College of Nursing that same year, and then trained to become a midwife, qualifying in 1948. She married in 1954, taking her husband's surname, Warner.

Includes correspondence informing Parker that she had passed General Nursing Council examinations, certificate issued by General Nursing Council entitling Parker to become a registered nurse in 1946, Parker's membership certificate issued by the Royal College of Nursing in 1946, Parker's uniform permit issued by the General Nursing Council, letters from Central Midwives Board informing Parker that she had passed her examinations to become a midwife, letters from Royal College of Nursing, Central Midwives Board and Ministry of Supply thanking Parker for informing these organisations that she had changed her surname (to Warner) in 1954, copy of the rules of the General Nursing Council (dated 1931), and five pin badges: 2 'SRN' [State Registered Nurse] badges, 1 Royal College of Nursing badge, 1 St. James's Hospital badge and 1 General Nursing Council badge.
