Scope and content
Scrapbook of newspaper cuttings and photographs relating to St. John Ambulance Brigade Birmingham B Corps. The front cover of the scrapbook contains the poem 'A Bag of Tools' by R L Sharpe. The scrapbook includes a Christmas message sent to all members by Colonel Sir Bertram J T Ford, chairman, in 1940, discussing the impact of the Second World War on the service; photographs, invitation cards and newspaper cuttings relating to the visit of King George VI and Elizabeth (Queen Consort) to meet St. John Ambulance Brigade at Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham as part of the Birmingham Centenary Celebrations in 1938; articles relating to the colours of St. John Ambulance Brigade being deposited for safe keeping at St. Mary's Church in Temple Balsall in 1940. The scrapbook also contains an invitation card and order of service for an investiture held at Birmingham Town Hall in December 1949 which included a march by St. John Ambulance Brigade, photographs, Christmas cards and a list of 16mm instructional films held by the medical department of T. J. Smith and Nephew Limited.
