Scope and content
Biography of Asenath Batley (née Steele) [1820-1893] Born in Northolme, Licolnshire. In domestic service by 1841, married David Batley in 1846. He worked in the flax mills and died in 1879. They had no children. Asenath was in the Leeds Workhouse in 1881. Died from TB in 1893 in Union Infirmary with her body donated to the Medical School before burial.
