Prescription book compiled by John Stafford of Bingham in 1826 titled 'Prescriptions from Eminent Physicians'. The book contains over 140 prescriptions, including remedies and recipes for bowels, cough, obstruction of the viscera, antibilious pills, scrofula, indigestion, fainting, dropsy, cholera morbus, deafness, sciatica, rheumatism, sore breasts, toothache, chilblain liniment, stomach weakness, tape worm, lumbago, inflammation, worms, headache, worms in the rectum, dysentery, gout, heart burn, ague, remittent fever, scarlet fever, liver complaints, spasmodic asthma, tickling cough, impotency, warts and corns, mange in dogs and shortness of breath. The book also includes recipes for saline mixture, eye water, black writing ink, corn plaster, shaving paste and soda water. The book also contains a newspaper article advertising an exhibition at the British Library for the earliest specimens of printing.
