Minute book of the British Medical Association Leeds Division, 1938-1949. The minute book contains minutes of the Annual General Meeting of the British Medical Association Leeds, minutes of meetings of the Executive Committee,minutes of meetings of the Planning Committee, list of elections of Sub-Committee members, a letter from Dr William MacAdam to Dr. H. Bedingfield, Honorary Secretary of the British Medical Association Leeds Division, commenting on his opposition to the National Union of Teachers printing a list of available consultants and specialists in 1938, reports on special lectures given to the association, report titled 'The Future of Medicine - 1' containing a discussion on implementing a State Medical Service, minutes of special meetings in 1941 to consider the "future of medicine", notes on a lecture given by Gilbert Ryle to the association in March 1942, minutes of meetings of the Industrial Medicine Sub-Committee, minutes of a meeting of the Executive Committee to discuss a response to the Beveridge Report (17 July 1943), cash statement of receipts and payments for the British Medical Association Leeds Division dinner and dance on 6th March 1947, report of special meeting in March 1948 when the association urged the implementation of changes to the National Health Service Acts 'to maintain the integrity of medicine and prevent doctors being turned into State servants', meeting in December 1948 to pass a resolution stating that the under the National Health Service Act the number of patients per doctor does not exceed 3,000, discussion of a proposal in 1949 to put together a resolution stating that the renumeration of general practitioners under the National Health Service Act was inadequate, agenda for a British Medical Association Leeds Division meeting on 1 February 1949 at Albion Place in Leeds to discuss the renumeration of general practitoners under the National Health Service Act being 'grossly inadequate'.
