Themes
We have selected objects which reflect some important themes in our collection. Click on Themes to explore. The themes are a selection of items from the collection, they do not necessarily contain all the objects and books we have in the collection that relate to that subject.
Language
Our collection contains information that some people may consider sensitive or disturbing. We acknowledge that medical history is complex and often discriminatory, reflecting historic and ongoing societal inequalities and biases. Therefore, please be aware that you may encounter offensive and triggering historical language when browsing our collections website, describing race, gender, class, sexual orientation, disability and mental health.
This language reflects the period in which it was created, and we are continually working to contextualise this language in our interpretation and documentation.
