This splint belonged to the donor's mother, who had a tuberculosis affected hip operation in 1947. She had another operation in 1952 to immobilise her hip. The operation was performed by Mr Langstone at Lord Mayor Treloar Hospital, Alton. She wore this splint for one year after wearing a plaster cast.
