2009.0414

Two certificates and five photographs belonging to Dorothy Girdler, a nurse who completed two years' training at Scotton Banks Sanatorium in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, from September 1937 to September 1939. The first certificate, dated 9th February 1940, is issued by the County Council of the West Riding of Yorkshire and certifies that Girlder has completed training and examinations in elementary anatomy, physiology, hygeine, tuberculosis and general nursing. The second, dated May 1939, is issued by the Tuberculosis Association and certifies that she has completed training and examinations in the nursing of pulmonary tuberculosis. The photographs are annotated by Girder and depict scenes from the sanitorium.
