A Letter Written by Florence Nightingale

In this letter, Florence Nightingale praises the effects of 'salicylic silk' as a dressing for wounds caused by facial cancer and surgery. While extracts have been used throughout history, it wasn't until the mid-1800s that salicylic awas manufactured for medicinal and antiseptic use in the form of an acid.
