In 2020-21 the Thackray Museum of Medicine hosted Phase 3 trials for the Novavax Covid-19 vaccine. Over 5000 people volunteered for the trial conducted here in the museum, the largest cohort of volunteers in the UK. This phial was one of the batch used in the trial. The Novavax vaccine was approved for use in the UK in early 2022.
