Ovid tells us how Appollo discloses to the Nymph Daphne that:
"INVENTUM MEDICINA MEUM EST, OPIFERQUE PER ORBEM DICOR, ET HERBARUM SUBIECTA POTENTIA NOBIS".

Dryden translates:
The art of medicine is mine, what Herbs and Simples grow in fields and forests, all their powers I know, and I am the great Physician called Appollo.
