Labels: This poster was issued by NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, encouraging more Black and mixed-race volunteers to donate blood. These two institutions have had a long tradition of partnership to ensure blood stocks remain readily available both in the domestic space and in the field. Both military and civilian staff have participated in coordinated blood donation drives hosted in major military establishments, such as the main Ministry of Defence building in London and the Army Headquarters in Andover, Hampshire. Alongside the encouragement of donations, the Ministry of Defence also co-funds NHSBT to develop breakthrough medical treatments. For example, they contributed to the development of dried blood plasma, which allows combat medics to treat severe blood loss quickly in war zones. This example reinforces why this partnership and the encouragement of donations is so important.
